Donald Romano, Psy.D., J.D.
Dr. Romano joined the Genesis Clinical Services staff in 2017. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Political Science from Elmhurst University, as well as a master’s and doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Midwestern University’s APA-accredited Clinical Psychology program in Downers Grove, Illinois. Dr. Romano completed his clinical training in substance abuse, community mental health, and psychiatric hospital settings. His doctoral research focused on the development of a comprehensive measure to evaluate functioning and disability in older adults, encompassing the complex interplay of physical, cognitive, and social factors that shape aging trajectories. Dr. Romano provides individual therapy services and psychological testing for a variety of referral questions.
Dr. Romano earned his Juris Doctor degree and a certificate in Intellectual Property from Chicago-Kent College of Law in Chicago, Illinois. As an attorney, Dr. Romano practiced municipal law, handling issues related to local governance, dispute resolution, and advocacy on behalf of local communities. Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Romano has served as a volunteer judge at regional tournaments for the American Mock Trial Association, leveraging his expertise to mentor emerging legal talent. Dr. Romano is the recipient of the CALI Excellence of the Future Award for Legal Writing and the Dr. Wendell Carpenter Award “for demonstrating outstanding professionalism in psychology and the encouragement of diversity initiatives.”
